Here is a follow up on this issue and if you want to repeat the problem you can easily do so, as I describe here.
I have implemented the original FPGA reference design for KC705 + FMCOMMS2 and followed the steps explained in this guide. I obtained the sinusoidal signals I & Q in the hardware manager as described. I exported the signals to csv using the command
write_hw_ila_data file.zip [upload_hw_ila_data hw_ila_1]
I read the exported files with MATLAB, perform FFT and plot the output. Initially I set rx and tx lo frequency from the console to 2000MHz. Then I increase the tx LO frequency 1Mhz and repeat the procedure to plot the output spectrum. Below is the output. Each plot is for a different tx LO frequency. The plots for 2002MHz and 2005 MHz are fine but the others are spread and so distorted.
I have two different FMCOMMS2 cards and I observe the same behaviour on both.
This seems to be a serious issue. I would like to know whether this behaviour is seen by others.
Any help would be appreciated..
