Re: HDMI to audio decoder

Hi,

We have list of video receivers, encoders and decoders available at Read First: Design Support Files Overview

All of the HDMI receivers listed above just take the audio data from audio sample packets and it just passes the audio at the output and it will not decode audio. If you have DSP like BF/SHARC then it can able to decode the audio.

For the latest list of available encoder/decoders from ADI go to the Blackfin or SHARC SW Modules online lists

Hi Yuya,

Thanks for asking, for your first question, I am still looking into it and will give you a response as soon as possible.

However for your second question, I didn't understand what you mean when you asked "Is it necessary to handle voltage input from outside when using internal reference?", can you please re-phrase your question? Thanks.

Cheers,

Ivan

running this command i get the following output:

Library version: 0.10 (git tag: 11b871b)
Compiled with backends: xml ip usb serial
Available contexts:
0: 0456:b673 (Analog Devices Inc. PlutoSDR (ADALM-PLUTO)), serial=104473222a8700100b0013006cb1d51124 [usb:2.2.5]

but the issue is that matlab during hardware setup can't find radioID and  this Serial nnumber

Re: Questions on the ADV7180 video Decoder

Q1. There are many potential causes for distorted color output from the ADV7180.

Could you share a picture of the color output.

Firstly could you please read the registers 0x10 to 0x13 when the ADV7180 is showing this issue. Could you please post the results here.

Secondly I advise placing an oscilloscope probe on the crystal output. The crystal should be oscillating at 28.63636 MHz. Check if placing an oscilloscope probe on the crystal output makes the color quality better/worse.

Thirdly I advise forcing the ADV7180 into free-run mode.

  • Connect analog video source.
  • Run recommended ADI scripts.
  • Set the DEF_VAL_EN bit high (User map register 0xC0 [0]).
  • The ADV7180 should now ignore the analog video input and output a blue screen image.
    • If the issue is still present then you know the issue is with the digital core, pixel port transmission or the SOC.
    • If the issue is not present in free-run mode then you know the issue is with the camera, cabling, input network or analog front end of the ADV7180.
    • Note you can also change the color of the output image using the DEF_Y and DEF_C registers see Color Controls section of the ADV7180 datasheet.

Q2. The crystal on the ADV7180 evaluation board is a Golledge MA01377 Quartz Crystal.  Details on this crystal are below.

Robert Hinchy

Hi,

HMC-SDD112 is a die product for which we don't have evaluation board. You will need to design your own substrate for evaluation. See the last 2 pages of datasheet for recommended assembly diagram and  Mounting & Bonding Techniques.

Best.

Re: [ADV7180] Relationship between "Vertical Lock Range" spec and IN_LOCK register.

By default the IN_LOCK bit only indicates horizontal lock.

The FSC_LOCK bit indicates color sub-carrier lock.

There is no vertical lock register in the ADV7180. The customer could check the field or Vsync output synchronization signals from the ADV7180.

Also they need to ensure that the ADV7180 is not programmed into fast switch mode. The ADV7180 is less robust to non-standard video sources in fast switch mode.

Robert Hinchy

Thanks for fixing the issue. Do I need to re-compile the entire kernel or is there a way to include only this fix into my system?

I'd be happy if you could provide some instructions.

Thank you and best regards.

Hi Antonio,

The information is in datasheet. The absolute maximum ratings are same for either mode.
